I'm just sayin...

Sarah Palin believes in equal rights, but not gay marriage. Uh-huh.

She's never traveled to foreign countries because she always had to work, so she read about them instead. Fair enough. But the fact that she thinks that learning from books is just as good as real experience is scary. Hi, I could never afford medical school but I've read about it a LOT. Please, let me perform the brain surgery.

Looks like she didn't do enough reading...
COURIC: What other Supreme Court decisions do you disagree with?

PALIN: Well, let’s see. There’s –of course –in the great history of America rulings there have been rulings, that’s never going to be absolute consensus by every American. And there are–those issues, again, like Roe v Wade where I believe are best held on a state level and addressed there. So you know–going through the history of America, there would be others but–

COURIC: Can you think of any?

PALIN: Well, I could think of–of any again, that could be best dealt with on a more local level. Maybe I would take issue with. But you know, as mayor, and then as governor and even as a Vice President, if I’m so privileged to serve, wouldn’t be in a position of changing those things but in supporting the law of the land as it reads today.

WHAT!?!?

To read or not to read:

COURIC: And when it comes to establishing your world view, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this — to stay informed and to understand the world?

PALIN: I’ve read most of them again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media —

COURIC: But what ones specifically? I’m curious.

PALIN: Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years.

COURIC: Can you name any of them?

PALIN: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news. Alaska isn't a foreign country, where it's kind of suggested, "Wow, how could you keep in touch with what the rest of Washington, D.C., may be thinking when you live up there in Alaska?" Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America.

Again, WHAT!?!?

Yes, I am well aware that she is not the one running for president. Only second-in-line to be president.

You are one rad mama. My old job consisted of LOTS of blogging. Lots of boredom... and lots of random blogging. Thanks for giving me another reason for laughing my ass off at Palin. See you at Invoke killer.

but at the same time, i feel like she's her own mouthpiece and knows really little about John McCain, while Biden was an Obama mouthpiece, as a veep should be. If this country goes Repubs again, where are you moving, cause I'll be your and kevin's chef/maid/dog caretaker.

Great points, Nicole. I'm not much of a Palin fan myself, for the reasons you mention and a few more.

I love that you're blogging now, and can't wait to read more. No pressure, of course :-)

Rob -

No promises as to the consistency of my new found outlet. And as for Palin, I just call them as I see them. It's just that easy. What I post barely scratches the surface.

I know you've got some brilliant little nuggets of insight - feel free to post them here any time :-)

PS - Will I ever see you guys again!??!

Sally-

You know where we live, AND we have a guest room. Or I'll just invite myself to Indiana one weekend when I can't stand my house anymore.
